NYC another freebie city - Luvnit2 - 02-03-2024 Why would illegal immigrants want to live anywhere other than Chicago, NYC, Denver, Boston or California. It amazes me these cities and states give illegal immigrants billions of dollars in freebies including ffee shelter, health insurance and food while ignoring their own citizens. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/new-york-city-hand-53-million-pre-paid-credit-cards-migrant-families-report New York City to hand out $53 million in pre-paid credit cards to migrant families: report Mayor Eric Adams' office said the program will help migrant families buy food and baby supplies RE: NYC another freebie city - pally - 02-04-2024 (02-03-2024, 06:50 PM)Luvnit2 Wrote: Why would illegal immigrants want to live anywhere other than Chicago, NYC, Denver, Boston or California. Do you want New York to let people starve while they are waiting for their asylum hearings? If you want to fix the problem, because right now there are no great legal solutions, you gotta change the laws. Something, Senators have been working on but your guy Donald Trump and his Greek chorus MAGA Minions in the House are refusing to consider because it would give Joe Biden another legislative victory in an election year. The solutions are at hand if Republicans are actually serious about the immigration issue but they are too busy fear mongering to do their damn jobs. Where has Genocide Joe proposed stopping/deterring illegal immigrants to come to the border? He can do this by declaring an emergency, yet he refuses. Why? His goal is not to take the money and stop/deter illegal immigrants from coming to the border, his goal is add more lawyers. more judges to process even more illegal migrants. Immigration under Genocide Joe is a loser, he won't change that by trying to blame others. He owns the invasion, he caused it day one in office by getting rid of the great Trump immigration policies. RE: NYC another freebie city - pally - 02-04-2024 Again with the stop-gap measures, why don't you want Congress to do its job and update the laws? An emergency is a temporary measure that will be tied up in court. Declaring an emergency doesn't stop asylum seekers who are LEGALLY presenting themselves for refuge. It doesn't fix the immense backlog of asylum cases that prevents prompt adjudication. Republicans want to whine about the border but want no part in actually trying to fix it. It is more politically expedient for them to exploit it. Pass the buck to the President that Congress wants to blame instead of doing their job and passing legislation. That would really screw up their bogus politically motivated impeachment of Mayorkas wouldn't it? No, I want them to be deported back across the border they illegally crossed, where they can return to their previous lives. If they are hungry, give them a sack lunch while they're waiting for the plane to take them home. So why didn't Gov's of Texas and Florida do that in stead of trying to make a political point with people's lives? Why did they send women and children and not just the "military aged men" to all those ""liberal" cities? Pick em up, send em back. Because the Federal government is in charge of immigration matters and will not allow them to do this. If they were able to do so they absolutely would. Quote:Why did they send women and children and not just the "military aged men" to all those ""liberal" cities? As cynical and manipulative as this maneuver was and is, it was a brilliant move on their part. It turned the immigration issue into a national one and exposed the Dems positions on this issue. It's all well and good to be a "sanctuary city" when you have very few migrants to deal with. Once they actually had to deal with the consequences of this status all of the sudden it became a major problem. Texas made their problem everyone else's problem as well. Quote:Pick em up, send em back. Again, 100% illegal. I'm not disagreeing people who cross illegally are usually immediately sent back unless they are minor children traveling alone or with non-parents. The narrative conveniently ignores the numbers who are apprehended and get sent back or who are deported. They want you to think every person who comes across the border is allowed to stay. The problem at the border comes mostly from asylum seekers. People who have requested asylum are not here illegally. They are granted asylum until a court hearing which because of the lack of funding and personnel right now can take up to several years to occur. Asylum requests are governed by laws which is why they need to be updated The border bill which Trump and his supporters don't want passed because it would give a "victory" to Joe Biden toughens the asylum laws, making it more difficult to request asylum, as well as puts more money into the administrative side so these requests can be adjudicated on a timely basis. We have to stop relying on legally dubious executive orders. First you advocate for them to engage in illegal activity, then you complain about them engaging in illegal activity. Which do you want? Was it? I haven't seen any charges, or heard of any forthcoming. As for your deliberate mischaracterization of my statement on the tactic, it's rather par for the course for you. You can't argue against something, so just misrepresent it. I'll put it to you more directly. Did the bussing of migrants to sanctuary cities raise awareness of the extent of this problem or not? Drop your handwringing over the topic and just answer that question. Quote:Anyway: Except the Senate doesn't need to do a single thing to "solve" this problem. Existing immigration law, if actually enforced, would address it. RE: NYC another freebie city - Luvnit2 - 02-06-2024 Mayor Adams is now giving illegal immigrants money each month. Ironically, NYC is giving the illegal immigrants 40% more than their own struggling citizens on SNAP. Adams is enticing everyone that illegal immigrants that comes across the border to consider NYC as an option. Yes, Texas should help them get to NYC, Chicago, California, Denver or any sanctuary city or state. Why would these cities and states resist? They are on record saying they will keep them safe, shelter, feed and now give them cash. Why are these cities providing more to the illegal immigrants than to their own citizens who struggle to be safe, get shelter and feed themselves? |
