Released felons in MD can now vote after veto override - BmorePat87 - 02-09-2016 http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/politics/bs-md-felons-voting-20160209-story.html Maryland's Republican governor has been having some issues with his vetoes. So far, all 6 of his vetoes have seen the Democrat controlled state legislature override them. This latest one allows felons to register to vote and vote while on parole and probation. There was a pretty strong social media campaign against it in which it was suggested that the bill allows incarcerated felons to votes. Personally, I see this as a good step in getting felons back into society. RE: Released felons in MD can now vote after veto override - Rotobeast - 02-09-2016 I think it's a good step, too. If they paid their dues, then let them return to society and the process. I'm even in favor of returning firearm rights to non-violent offenders. You don't think treating criminals as if they are forever removed from normal society is the best way to rehabilitate them?! RE: Released felons in MD can now vote after veto override - bfine32 - 02-09-2016 Wonder if they will vote for the Governor. RE: Released felons in MD can now vote after veto override - StLucieBengal - 02-09-2016 I'm ok with this... We need to do something towards this end. What percentage of people vote in Gubernatorial elections, anyways? I know only 26% of registered voters voted for him. We had a lower turnout than usual (45% compared to the 54% in 2010).
