Forgotten Losses to Fill - BURROWorBUST - 03-30-2016

It might not seem like a big deal, and it might not be a big deal in the long run – we can't really know right now – but I think we forget about two other losses to our roster this off-season.

Jones, Sanu, Smith, and Lamur might be our highest profile losses, but I think it's worth remember that we also lost James Wilder Jr. and Terrell Watson, both practice squad RBs.

We still have Gio Hill, Peerman, and Rex, but I thought both of those guys showed promise. They could have been useful in the event of injury. It's part of the price of having a deep roster, but I think it's safe to say that we'll be looking for replacements for them late in the draft and among the college free agents.

Tyler Ervin has been mentioned as someone who could possible compete for a job on the 53. Anyone else worth considering? Devon Johnson (Marshall U.)?

Ervin wouldn't fit the style that both Wilder and Watson brought, but would be welcomed. Devon Johnson would be a good replacement. I wouldn't be surprised if any RB for replacement came as a UDFA though. The only one I can see coming as a draft pick would be Ervin because of his versatility as a return specialist and potential slot weapon.

RE: Forgotten Losses to Fill - Goalpost - 03-30-2016

I have not been researching many RB's because we seem stocked there fairly well. Although I think many of them are FA's next year.

RB I like is Tra Carson out of Texas AM. He's 5'11, 230, can pass protect, catches well, lacks speed, but runs with good power.

RE: Forgotten Losses to Fill - JungleRock85 - 03-30-2016

I could see us adding another UDFA Running Back or two to compete for a practice squad spot but I don't think anyone will be drafted and I don't think anyone will be truly competing to crack our RB rotation for next season unless an injury occurs.

I heard we lost Wilder which sucked cause i always liked that guy but i didn't hear we also lost Watson.

Good thought Shady, i have ignored the RB position this Draft cause i thought we were stacked but with the
loss of Watson we actually might draft a back late. Ervin sounds like a good one cause he can also return
kicks and play ST's which we value.

I will have to look up more late round RB's now.

Fun, RB is always my favorite position to look into leading up to the Draft. Cool

RE: Forgotten Losses to Fill - fredtoast - 03-31-2016

I am not doing a mock draft this year, but Shady is 100% correct. We will take a RB in the later rounds.

RE: Forgotten Losses to Fill - BengalHawk62 - 03-31-2016

If we look at RB's later on in the draft, a guy I'd like us to look at is Jordan Howard out of Indiana.  A smooth striding runner with a little bit of punch.  Is also good at receiving out of the backfield.

There looks to be alot of talent at RB. It's not getting the attention it used to because of how the NFL has changed. Going to San Jose's pro day means we're looking at Ervin, which is a good thing. Maybe J. Hill will rebound, but I lost alot of confidence in him. He's shown that he'll let guys rip the ball from his arms, and you just can't let that happen. It literally cost us a playoff win.  Rant

RE: Forgotten Losses to Fill - NATI BENGALS - 04-01-2016

Wilder and Watson were UDFA. I think we fill the hole that way.

Sounds like they plan to re-up Gio and Hill has 2 years left. A rookie RB is one spot that can come I and make an immediate impact. The way I see it we don't need one to come in and make an immediate impact. So we can wait to draft one.
