The court also bars defendants’ family and friends from witnessing the proceedings, and no transcripts are kept of the hearings. Forget the rest: What the hell is that all about? RE: Arkansas judge’s ‘debtors’ prison’ court jailed cancer patient over unpaid bills - fredtoast - 08-25-2016 I work in Blount County, TN. A few years ago they were trying to justify getting a new jail built so they paid The Institute for Law and Public Policy to do a study of their overcrowding problem. The policy returned a scathing report that basically said Blount County was running a debtors prison and that was the reason for the overcrowding. The Blount County Commission responded by shelving the report for over 3 years until someone finally asked about the money spent for the report. http://wate.com/2015/03/25/delayed-release-of-report-on-blount-county-jail-overcrowding-raises-questions/ https://mgtvwate.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/openmemo_edited-1.pdf RE: Arkansas judge’s ‘debtors’ prison’ court jailed cancer patient over unpaid bills - Rotobeast - 08-25-2016 (08-25-2016, 03:27 PM)michaelsean Wrote: Forget the rest: What the hell is that all about? Most people don't read everything and end up agreeing to arbitration, in the event of discrepancies. Not sure if that is applicable here, but probably along the lines. Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk |
