Follow Us On Twitter & Help Get The Word Out!
#1
I've recently started a Twitter account for the board in an attempt to help get the word out about the new site, and to hopefully attract new members as we move forward. The link is in my sig. We need every member here, who has a Twitter account to help us and follow us. Then, we can start getting our url out there by posting original site based tweets, like thread topics, and having them re-tweeted by our followers...as well as commenting on other Bengal related tweets and sharing links back to our site.

I appreciate anyone who's willing to follow and help us out with this. It's important that we keep looking at different ways to get the word out, continue growing the site, and to attract new members.

Also, if anyone here is a really active, experienced user of Twitter, who has been successful at gaining a lot of followers...and would want to help with the site account...send me a PM and let me know, and all names will be submitted to the staff for consideration.

Thanks, Holic

This is a good idea. I was alluding to this in another thread that Bengals.com had a built in stream of new users, and if we want this place to stay fresh we'll need to consistently spread the word that this place exists.

Most here know by now my fondness for Twitter. Therefore, I may be a bit biased, but I think this is a great idea for getting some exposure for the new site. I would recommend using it to share links to some of your top threads. Your purpose, after all, is to encourage people not only to join but to contribute. Let them see what the board is all about. Pick threads that are topical and have good conversation. It is also important to have a quality first post as that is the first impression to new visitors clicking on such links.

I like the interaction with the players as well, particularly if in reply to one of their own tweets. Some who do not follow you may be introduced to your tweets just by viewing replies to comments a player's account (or even the media). The birthday wishes to Kirkpatrick, for example, was a nice touch.

Do not feel like you are alone. I do not twitter or instagram and I have a facebook account that I do not even visit. That was why I hated to see the boards close. As well, I have zero desire to be a part of those forms of social media either it just has no appeal to me. I could careless how regular someone is and when they had their last BM.

Totally agree with this.  Also, link to some Dalton threads.  Lots of Dalton threads may be annoying, but everybody wants to talk about him.

Well, I don't do twitter.  But, if I did, I certainly would help spread the word.

Me either, but best wishes and let's hope it attracts many new members.

Bump. Also, this is a simple thing I do that just takes a few seconds: even though I have this site bookmarked on two computers I always search for it and then scroll through the results to find it. Eventually if others are doing that at least some or all the time it drives this site toward the top of the results and it doesn't cost anything but a few seconds. And, it is already showing up higher in my results.

I have posted the link a few times but I don't think the porn chicks I follow are going to sign up for a football forum.

We can all hope for it though.

Also, Bengalholic, if you start following a bunch of Bengal fans, a lot of them will follow you back. FYI, Adam Jones also will follow a lot of people. He comes on once in a while and says "hello world," and will follow some of the people who answer back.

Very true. I was quite surprised when he followed me.

Yep.  He followed me too.  He said Hello World and I happened to be on right when he said it.  I just said Hello Adam.  Hope you have a great day, and he followed me back.

I don't think you understand how twitter works. They have to follow you in order for them to see your tweets unless you actually spell their twitter handle out within the message. Just cuz you follow them doesn't mean anything.
