Bengals have been linked to multiple players that have chosen other teams over the Bengals.

I thought we were supposed to have our pick of the liter because we had Joey B as our QB? Every good veteran wants to come here because they have a chance to win a Super Bowl, right?

Fact is, the Bengals aren't getting competitive enough contractwise to sign these guys. There's no other explanation. Whether it's guaranteed money, years, amount, etc. is to be seen...

Meanwhile you have the Bills, Ravens, etc shelling out to improve their team because they know how close they are.

It aint over yet, but good/quality players (and honestly, affordable ones) are being scooped up more and more each day while this team still has a lot of holes. The lack of aggressiveness is a bit troublesome.

****

I only know of one free agent that the Bengals were trying to get (according to multiple sources) and who selected another team. That is TE Tyler Conklin, who went with the Jets. Do you know of other free agents that the Bengals were clearly trying to get but that selected other teams?

Are people really going into hysterics over guys like James Daniels and Morgan Moses? Or is it the 6 year $120 million dollar deal Buffalo gave 33 year old Von Miller we’re jealous of?

So if the Bengals aren't trying for other free agents...that's worse.

It's Day 4 of being able to negotiate with free agents. Lots of guys are signed.

I think you could reasonably assume that the Bengals are waiting on Collins and Armstead to make a decision (or in Collins' case, the Cowboys to make a decision) before committing any money because they don't know how much money they're going to have to commit to RT and don't want to take themselves out of either player's market until they know how much it will cost to sign them. The last thing they'd want to do is give Conklin 8M a year, only to miss out on Armstead by 1 or 2M.

Are there any reports we are actually in on Armstead?

It's the fact that other teams in the AFC are absolutely loading up and improving their teams while we sit here with more holes on our team than what we started with that's causing my hysteria.

Again, still time to fix it...but the players are slowing dwindling.

You'd be surprised how many top 1-2 tier guys are no longer available. Especially at our positions of need.

Apparently the bengals should already be done with free agency. No other team is but the bengals are held to a much different standard.

We’ve already had 3 great signings. We’ll likely see 1-3 more and some decent depth pieces. We are on pace to have a terrific free agency and offseason. People losing their mind over us not signing mediocre at best TE’s is laughable.

Apparently BJ Hill isn’t a good signing because “reasons.”

Is that a real deal? Can't be...

Thinking this is the case, we are in trade mode right now waiting on decisions for either Collins or another RT.

I don't know if Armstead is in the cards as he is older, would be more expensive and gets hurt often.

Collins makes sense as he would be much cheaper is younger and arguably better for what we need.

Something has to be in the works, it is a little too quiet. Mellow

What the Burrow Effect can't fix - How the Bengals FO structures contracts
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: 3-5 so far. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Maybe Alex Cappa and Ted Karras don't even consider the Bengals without Burrow as our QB; therefore, Burrow as a positive influence on the free agency period very well might be ever-present in the process?

Money matters to players, especially the guys that only get one shot at a contract where they can maximize their earning potential. It makes sense that some of these average TEs or other FAs are taking their big deals elsewhere because they won't get to play for another big deal. It's not indicative that Burrow makes no difference on the FA process.

We just aren't in a position to definitively say "yes" or "no" that the Burrow effect is or isn't working out.

Uzi, Spain, Larry O, Eli Apple are not on this team right now.

Those guys are not end all be all, but the positions they made up are literal holes on the roster right now. Not to mention right tackle.
