Great infographics.
More than worth the look.
Nice find Dino. It was worth it ....
Side note: early 1900's rears its ugly head again. That's when we started losing what made us special.

You mean the ability to repress other groups like ethnic minorities and women?

Not just ethnic minorities and women, but also the common working man. 1900 was the highlight of exploitation by powerful monopolies. No worries about safe work conditions or paying a reasonable wage.

Because we have unions, companies can no longer cut wages in lean times to ride out the rough patches and keep everyone employed. Unions are a bad thing because of this ...

I think he's referring to the fact that we haven't really victimized Native Americans in the 20th and 21st centuries the way we did in the 19th.

They lost. They either sold their lands or just died off. They got reparations for the broken treaties... so the slate is wiped clean.
And before you start with the disease nonsense. Asians brought disease to europe and europe lost a lot of lives too. So if you have sympathy for the Indians then where is your sympathy for the white man?
Was just part of the world then.... And the sIberians were here before the Indians anyway. So they have more of a claim than the Indians.

I wasn't just talking about Unions. But the common people are still much better off now than in 1900.

We've just become more sophisticated in how we victimize them in the last century.

BTW great thread GMDino.
Interesting to note that many of these prohibitions had their basis in religion. Some more than others, but almost all of them had people that defended them based on scripture.
I think this is another example of religion losing its influence. There are probably lots of other factors involved (advancements in education, diversity, and the ability to spread information), but the reduced influence of religion obviously has something to do with it.

I'm rarely at a loss for words...but wow. Simply wow. So the reparations we reneged on make up for the broken treaties. Systemic extermination of a group of people means the slate is wiped clean?!

Just because one has sympathy for one group doesn't mean one can't have sympathy for the other. This is some shit I'd expect to hear at a Klan rally especially that last part in bold.
Many here laugh and make fun of you, I try to abstain from that. But you're making hard lucy, you're making really hard when you spew this bullshit.

Or the American government forced them from their lands, eradicated them, and enacted policies designed at destroying their culture and way of life.

I cant quote Richmond.
As far as reparations they get a monthly check for life.... Tax free.... And their own lands free of any laws. They have a deal that for generations they don't have to work. They just hae to keep having babies. Oh yeah and can run their business as well.
1800 a month x 12 x 18 years of interest. Is 338k not counting the interest accrued over the 18 years. This is what tribes do.... When they turn 18 they get access to their money. It's well over 1 million. Plus they get profit share from casinos or other tribe business .
What else do they want? Do you not think these reparations are sufficient?
And as far as anyone laughing at me .... i could care less .... Doesn't take long to figure out that if you talk anything outside of progressive/socialism beliefs you get railroaded.
Fortunately I don't get my self worth from having a bunch of people agree with me on every issue and then get to pump up my own confidence by making fun of anyone who disagree with me.
Either you have an open mind and are open to other thoughts or your not. And if you not then that's a you problem and no matter what I day or do those people have to deal with themselves.

And btw when I said where is the sympathy for the white man..... Was referring to the White men who died when the Asian diseases swept through europe . Basically the same thing that happened to the Indians when we came here.... No immunity had been built up. So it was common as people moved continent to continent.

FWIW, there are many that accept, and some even prefer, the term American Indian. I've dealt a lot with those from the Monacan tribe here that is local in my area as well as Lenape through events in Scouting. Most of them that I interacted with preferred to have the tribe name used first, but in lieu of that (whether through ignorance, referencing members of multiple tribes, or through not being able to pronounce it) their second choice was American Indian. Not all of them will be the same, obviously, but using the term Indian for them is not as much of a thing as you are making it out to be.
