I think a lot of you over estimate and over value just how much the Bengals care

I was on the team for a full year.

There is nothing "true" about your comments at all.

Not saying all they care about is money, I said money has ruined a lot about professional sports.  How can they justify paying players before a snap, or a layup, or a hit, the kind of money they do..  Are they basing it off of their credentials in college?  As we know for example Tebow 8.7 Million Guaranteed!!  Guaranteed!!!  Do you think what he accomplished in the NFL was worth that kind of money his rookie year?  Where is the motivation where is the drive if you have that kind of money in your pocket?  Oh, this is hard, Oh well I have 8 million dollars..  Fade out...  and now not even in the NFL. Kwame Brown just look at that career.  Johnny Manziel 4.3 signing bonus and then 6.7 million guaranteed..  yeah he seemed really motivated.  I believe there was more heart in professional sports in the 70 80's than there is now.. even before the 70's I would assume.  Exclude the names of the star I mention there were many that did not get paid much money but just loved the game.

Coaches and recruiters kissing their asses, fans kissing their asses, getting paid millions... The hunger and passion is harder to get out of them because they're spoiled. Only great coaches can motivate them consistently.

It also hurts the Bengals that there's no accountability. The GM will never fire himself. The HC has kept his job when he said he would have fired himself. Underperforming position coaches keep jobs for 20 years. Way too much comfort. It spreads down to players as well. Players who keep their jobs despite mediocre play.

Now if you're a player and you see all of this, what's your motivation to push extra hard? When you see everyone from the top down getting by on mediocre? Terrell Owens nailed it way back in 2010..."The problems start from the top down".

This is just ridiculous.  You have absolutely nothing to back up your claim.  You know who the highest paid [layers in the league have been over tyhe past few years......Brady, Manning, Rodgers.  Ray Lewis was the highest paid LB in the league.  Adrian Peterson was the highest paid RB.  Didd any of those guys slack off when they got paid.

And i could go back to the 70's and 80's and find plenty of players who got big contracts and then flopped.

You are just making all of this up.  You just think professional athletes are over paid.  You are jealous so you just make up teh claim that none of them care anymore.

This is just a flat out lies.  The Bengals fire coaches.  Just because they don't fire the coaches YOU think they should means nothing.

The only reason players keep their jobs is because there are not better players behind them. And the Bengals have released many players with years still on their contract.

But even if players were not afraid of losing playing time they would be motivated to play well so they could get more money when they become free agents.

There is not truth to anything you say.

Not all Some..  get paid and out the door.  They are not deserving of the big money up front to just slide out of the league after a year of not producing.

I keep seeing people talking about discipline, character, fire, passion, etc. and I just dont think that stuff resonates with a lot of the athletes out there as much as it does with the fans.

Fans are emotionally invested in their teams. They look at the team as a representation of their city and themselves. Most of the athletes in pro sports never grew up cheering or rooting for the team they are currently on and dont share that passion that the fans have.

Sure, athletes are competitive and they want to win but I just dont think they share in that same passion about their team that the fans share. They try their hardest, get their check, and if they win...great, if they lose...they move on with their lives.

A friend of mine does some work for the Bengals and travels with them for most of their games. I asked him what it was like after the Dallas loss, how the mood was on the plane ride home after they got their butts kicked. He responded "just another game".

Obviously players would rather win games than lose games, but I dont think they lose too much sleep over it.

I had to dig this up. Why? Because there are a lot of players on this team that don't seem to care one bit that they are losing. The defensive unit seems to be especially guilty of this. I saw far too many smiles and laughs from our players on the defensive side of the ball today. This team needs a full overhaul starting with Lewis and zampese. Oh and I have defended nugent in the past, but never again, he should be cleaning his locker out tomorrow.

Anyways my main point is that the majority of players on this team simply do not care. Mark my words:the Cincinnati Bengals will not win another game This season. And this is not an overreaction, this is a reality.

The entire notion that players ought to care about your town and what the people in the town thinks seems odd to say the least. Well over 75% are from other towns, most several states away where there are few if any fans of the teams they play for.  In fact, one of the few from the area has been the team goat most of the season with everyone calling for his head.  It's a game period and they're paid well in excess of what most people will ever see in their lifetimes. I don't fault them for moving on at the end of the day and I could really care less about this mythical passion and fire they're supposed to show week in week out. If they won every game from now till the end of time and stood there with blank stares nobody and I mean NOBODY would say a word, but they're losing and playing terrible right now and folks act as if the whole thing would turn around over night if only every player would just start kicking kittens and shoving old ladies down flights of steps..
Trying to project your own frustration on to others only frustrates everyone.
