Open Minded Mock. 1st of 2019
#1
As Mike Brown said at Taylor's presser, "He's open minded." It appears Taylor is getting his way so far starting out with a clean slate on the coaching staff. I expect to see things we're not used to seeing to help Taylor get a boost being his first year as the HC.

Should we expect the unexpected? Perhaps a big free agency splash for once (just one?)? Here's my NFL Mock Draft/notable offseason moves.

KEY Free Agency Signings/Moves:

Sign Ja'Wuan James, RT, Prev. Team: Miami Dolphins. 70.8 PFF Grade - 2018

Please make it happen Taylor/FO!! Maybe there are some Taylor/Ben Martin/Jim Turner connections to James that could reel him in here? Just a thought. This signing would really open up the draft big time

Sign Sheldon Richardson, DT, Prev. Team: Minnesota Vikings. PFF Grade 72.2 - 2018

Aside from Geno and Dunlap on the entire d-line, we really don't have guaranteed starters. We have MJ who I hope doesn't return, Lawson who is young and coming off of an injury that put him on IR and Billings who has yet to show he is the answer next to Geno. Hubbard had a great rookie season, but we really could use a force like Richardson to put our run D and defense overall over the top (and of course some LB help...) Can't hurt at all either way you put it...

Re-Sign Dennard.

Without him we are screwed in the slot. Not many rookie CB's come in ready to start. The Bengals in particular like to sit on Rookie CB's for at least a year before starting them. Then again, that was in the ML era...

Re-Sign Tyler Eifert

One year prove it deal (again). Last chance with a new head coach. He can still play no question about that, the only question here is, "can he can stay healthy?".

***TRADE***

Devin White is off the board going to Detroit at #8 and the Bengals are looking for QB hungry teams to trade #11 to. Skins and Fins are looking at Murray who is still available and the Bengals are listening.

Miami offers #13 and #78. Washington offers #15 and #46 in desperation for a franchise QB.

Bengals take Washington's offer and sends them #11, #169 and #185. Unless the Skins and or Fins really love another QB like Daniel Jones, there could be a bidding war to trade up for Murray with the other top two prospects gone to the Giants and Broncos. Teams have overpaid many times to move up for QB's, so this is actually very realistic. Especially with Washington...

Excellent work. Would really like this. Exciting pick in first round to help ignite offense (and be insurance on Eifert). Then two LBs that are ballers in second round. Love that guard is addressed as well. Great FA picks.

This would be outstanding, especially given the FA signings.  Love that 100%.  However, I would hope we would see a LB also signed in FA (Preston Brown?) that has more experience in the middle.  I also loved the idea of signing Buchanon and think he could thrive here.   I am not as big on selecting a TE as our first pick if Ed Oliver is still there, but if he is the player everyone is saying he is and we get that crop of FA, this defense would have speed and toughness in the middle it hasn't had for several years.

And although I would want Oliver, I don't see any way the Bengals would pass on the OT from FLorida if he is there.  I even read somewhere that he reminded someone of Willie Anderson.

Great work Takedown and love how you added FA to show the overall picture of the moves in the Mock.

Hockenson is one heck of a talent and at that spot is a great pick and would really help the Offense immediately. Getting those two Linebackers in the 2nd is awesome and instantly improves the Defense. With James and Lindstrom the right side of the Line has been dramatically improved.

Nice mock brother.

Really nice work here - and a lot of work.

Love Hockenson.  He's a difference maker and the kind of guy that lifts the team with his toughness and intensity.   If Eifert stays healthy those two could wreak havoc.

I'm a Pratt lover.  And I love your FA picks.

Hard to pass up Oliver, but I think Hockenson is the safer pick.

There's another TE/H-back who's like 270 lbs (forget the name and the school).   I'd love to pick him up in the latter rounds.   Want to be a power team.

Terrific draft

I realize that we all just make this stuff up, as we hypothetically forecast a great outcome to free agency and draft for the Bengals. However, if the real story turned out anything like this one, I'd be one happy Bengal fan! Great job, Takedown.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations
