But I will not read "The Road" because when McCarthy does "dark" it gets ***** harsh.  I had to go on anti-depressants after I read "Blood Meridian".

However, "The Road" is considered one of the all-time classic dystopian novels and McCarthy is a highly skilled writer.  So if you like that genre I have to recommend it.

It's usually the first Post-Apocalyptic book everyone recommend and honestly I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The Road takes you on a dark depressing ride and drops you off in the middle of nowhere.
