Its not the same without Bates as long as he doesnt let the tag/contract crap get in his head like he did last year. If he isnt going to give 100 here, then he should be somewhere that he will. It doesnt look good on the long term contract front. Its been well over a year and no deal done and no reports of it being close, but instead Bates maybe holding out of camp.
