Good teams lose good players.  They can't pay everyone.  We just aren't used to seeing much of that around here.

I agree with Fred, develop Hill and then in 2023 hope he is ready or sign a vet safety/draft a safety. Then wait to get a 3rd round pick for Bates in 2024.

I like Bates, but no way for 18 million and a lot of guaranteed money which has no shield for major injury to the club.
