Most teams in the NFL have a TE/FB/H-back who plays about 25%-35% of the snaps and do nothing much except block. No one knows them because they don't accumulate many stats, but pretty much every team has one.
So Sample is probably going to get 300+ snaps no matter what. He may not have been worth a 2nd round pick, but he does block well.
