I find trash talk entertaining, I dont think it detracts from the game. But you definitely look a prize mug when you talk it and it doesn't go well.
Eli Apple is a wonderful example of this. And he's not even that bad a player, but he's also nowhere near good enough to talk the amount of crap he does.
It does make him entertaining though lol.
