I agree that we ought to be careful in using terms like "conservative/liberal" and "right/left."

E.g., Obama, Hillary, and Joe are not "leftists" or "the left." 

Trump is not a conservative, though he certainly is a "rightist."

I admire many conservatives, starting with George Will, who was drummed off Fox and out
of public life pretty quickly for knowing lies when he heard them. 

So you may be "practically alone," but you are in some good, quite respectable, company.
