Black conservatism is not a very well known phenomenon outside the Black community in the U.S. Most of us are
unfamiliar with Blacks who support a white status quo.

King refers to them in his "Letter from Birmingham Jail" as Blacks who for various reasons supported segregation. 

This sort of thinking goes way back to the 19th century, where Booker T. Washington's "accomodationist" stance 
(understandably) dominated the thinking of Southern Blacks.
