I generally agree with your point.  However, it might not be a terrible idea to have a high-end pass catching TE step in for one of the big 3 when they depart.  They can replace some production, and even the best of them don't demand top end receiver money.  KC saves a decent bit through having their number 1 receiver not be an actual wr.
