I knew a woman who was an advocate for death row inmates. Of course, all of them told her they were innocent. That tells me they are fearful of the punishment. There may be an extreme case where the wrong person is convicted. But, how can you let a trial determine your guilt if you truly are innocent? It takes much more than DNA to convict. Anyway, the states that have the death penalty really don't have less convictions. Maybe it is time to do away with it.
