It's interesting seeing others react to stuff like this happening elsewhere since I'm from a small rust belt PA town where we've spent decades regarding abandoned factories and businesses as monuments to the past, a sign of our resiliency, something for kids to throw rocks at or for people to raid for scrap metal.
Fittingly enough, the place in my hometown that used to be a youth rec center was at some point converted to be a center for seniors. There is also a big empty fenced in area that was once a factory but for the past 20+ years it's been bulldozed and sits empty because no one wants to sink in the money to do the required soil/chemical removal to build anything there, but the city is also fighting the building of low income housing there. A whole lotta nothing really fits the area, better.
Anywho, poor SF...I wonder where the 49ers will go...probably somewhere in Mississippi.
