First, it was Thomas taking gifts from billionaires now it is Samuel Alito
Fishing trips on a private plane and staying at a public resort on someone else's dime. In this case, it is a billionaire, mega donor to Republicans, with multiple cases in front of the court Paul Singer, extending his "friendship" to Justice Alito. Of course, Alito neither declared the trip nor recused himself from the cases.
In both Thomas and Alito's cases, both billionaires are huge conservative donors whose pocketbooks were opened up by the court's decision on Citizen United. Both have think tank organizations that write dozens if not hundreds of amicus briefs concerning cases in front of the court.
We are hearing a lot today about a 2-tiered Justice Dept...this is where it starts. Rich and powerful men can buy Supreme Court Justices.
How can anyone trust these justices?
