It's one of the only ways to defend the indefensible. They have no case, they know it's wrong, and they have no way of defending it other than to minimize it and act like it doesn't matter and that you're the weirdo for caring about it. They're twisted and so steeped in their ideology that they can't deviate from it one iota.
