And I will say this also.  How are you going to have even remotely equal representation?  How is that possible.  Do people not understand simple basic math?  76% white  14% black  19% Hispanic     Single digits after that.  Now someone please explain to me how you are ever going to have an even remotely close to equal representation in college or the workplace with those percentages.  It defies basic logic and math.

Yo Mick, in your view, what is the goal of a university? I think that has a great deal of bearing on the AA issue.

Certainly on the question of whether "diversity" is "handcuffing." 

Would it be fair to say you are viewing universities on analogy to, say, a pro football team on the issue of diversity?

E.g., suppose every team had to have 14% Black and 19% Hispanic and 3% Asian. Suppose every offensive line had to meet
such standards. Draft day and a Joe Thomas level tackle is available but you can't take him because you already have your
quota of whites. Few Bengals fans would care if their ENTIRE TEAM was100% Black or 100% Pacific Islander, if it won a Super Bowl, right? 

That, or something like, is your model when you speak of "handcuffing," right? A business model. 

In that case, "diversity" might defeat the goal rather than meet it. Hence my question about the goal of a university.
