Kicking the can down the road has been going on for at least 40 years so none of this is new and putting things off longer won't help anything either.

Fittingly, Americans have been talking about starting another civil war for a long time, too.  We'll do it tomorrow...right when we decide to finally work on getting in shape and starting that band we've been talking about with our high school friends for decades.
