Why didn't the Bengals add a proven RB in the offseason

I think he and the Bengals had an understanding that he likely would be taking a paycut to bring him into a fair value for both parties. And that's a piece of the puzzle for why they weren't looking outside for RBs.

I agree he wants to be here and I think the Bengals want him to be here.

His dead cap space was 5 million I think. Cutting him this late would have left them few options. Sure there was Cook and Zeke but combining Mixon’s dead cap and their salary puts them back at square one. Mixon knows the offense and let’s face it the Bengals are trying to keep the team intact as much as possible. If they made any mistakes it was not done sooner. I’d expect that Mike Brown had to be convinced to make Joe take a reduction. Mike is old school I made a deal and I’m going to stand by it.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.
