lots of comments, none of them with substance....everyone seems to be about doing fly by zingers.
What's the actual impact of this cancellation? Had AIDEA actually even begun excavating oil? Have jobs been created yet?
Alaska doesn't exactly have the greatest economy....the job market is pretty thin and the cost of living is a tad bit ridiculous considering the wages don't line up. Though I doubt many of these jobs would've been filled by local talent.
This is one of those things that's probably good for the environment but awful for the local communities that would've benefited from it.

So now what? Will leases be issued in different areas? I know about nothing on this.
This project was going to add ~750 jobs to an area that that has a population of maybe 15k across a 10-20M square miles? And (in theory) provide relief to the cost of oil domestically?
It'd be nice to know what the plan is going forward other than (we must save the ice and 6 penguins in this sparsely populated area of the world!)
