Choose the next Federal Holiday
#55
(12-29-2015, 11:43 PM)bfine32 Wrote: As of today 12/29/2015 we have 10 Federal Holidays:

New Years Day
MLK Day
Washington's Birthday (not Presidents Day)
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Columbus Day
Veteran's Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas

Your goal is to expand it to 11. You can simply add 1 or replace up to 3 and add one.

You must explain why you added your Holiday and why you abolished one (if you do).

American's get far fewer Bank Holidays than Europe, so I can see why you might need to look for some story or twist that would allow you to persuade your corporate masters to let you off work for a day (although we all know your bosses will be calling or emailing you and expect you to answer anyway).  However, in the UK, we don't especially name our Bank Holidays (other than with traditional religious names) and they don't tend to have any special meaning other than "it would be nice to all have a day off every now and again during Spring and Summer".

For 2016 we have:
New Year’s Day
Good Friday
Easter Monday
2 May Early May bank holiday (Previously called May Day)
30 May Spring bank holiday (Previously known as Whitsun)
29 August Summer bank holiday
26 December Boxing Day
27 December Christmas Day (substitute day)
