I think you are missing a key Trump policy versus Biden's policy. Trump processed illegal immigrants and then sent them back to Mexico to await their hearing since histry has shown less than 10% actually show up for their asylum hearing. 

Biden did a catch and release into the US and smart illegal immigrants and criminals in other countries knew they could turn themself into the border (we have no way of vetting most of them as they do not share in our criminal data bases in the middle east, Russia, China and many other countries) and be released into the US pending a hearing in 5 to 8 years. Free to roam the US under Biden, free to roam Mexico under Biden.

Why did Trump had drastically lower numbers than Biden, simple, he had a deterrent and was building/fixing a barrier wall with no help from Democrats playing politics to stop a Trump campaign promise yes both sides do it). But stay in Mexico or be sent back to Mexico were the biggest ways Trump secured the border.

The Biden team and Democrats told us for 3+ years the border was secure. Now in year 4, they say it is a crisis, but it is Republican's fault. It is laughable and a flat out lie. As I have pointed out, Biden had 100% control of Congress (both house and senate) yet did not pass 1 immigration law. Now they want to claim a multi-faceted spending bill giving Ukraine over 60 billion, yes billion with a "B" is attached to an immigration bill that allows 5000 illegal immigrants into the US each day or almost 2 million a year into the country.

Once more for the record, it was not passed in the Senate and Democrats voted no, not just republicans. So Democrats did nothing for 3 years and now want Republicans to give them a blank check for Ukraine + an immigration portion that does little to deter illegal immigrants to come to our border as they will still be released and be able to go to sanctuary cities and get free health care, shelter, 3 meals a day, cell phones and all kinds of goodies we don't do for our own citizens.

Biden's border policy sucks, anyone with a little common sense can look at the record and conclude his policies did not stop nor deter illegal immigrants (again less than 10% show up for hearings and then less than 10% of them win their asylum cases.
