Ashcraft has always been a power pitcher and now he's in a position where he can't always overpower people. He hasn't adapted enough(hence my love of watching Williamson progress last season) and he often looks like a guy trying put a square peg into a round hole. Williamson, Lodolo and Abbott are pitchers . . . Ashcraft is still just a thrower. Greene appears to have gotten it quicker than Ashcraft and also seems to have a stronger mental makeup.
His move to AAA instead of the bullpen says "We expect more injuries to come and we need you to stay stretched out as a starter."
I'd love to see two long relievers in the pen, though. Martinez or Ashcraft coming in in the 6th might be 'night over' for the rest of the pen and keep them fresh so they can recover from their severe case of David Bell.
