Violent crime rate, including murder and assault, were almost twice as high in America in the 90's as they are today. 

Teen pregnancy rates were also much higher back then.

Augusta National Golf Club still did not allow black members in the 90's and when the University of Tennessee hired Wade Houston as the first black head basketball coach in the SEC he was denied membership in the local all-white Knoxville country club that provided memberships to all the other UT coaches.

And then there were the Bengals in the 90's................
