Of course, no matter how specific you want to categorize them, none of this changes the fact that Lucie's comments were racist. It's racist for Germans to call all people from Ireland "savages". It's racist for Greeks to call all people from Iran "savages". It's racist for Chinese to call all people from India "savages".
It's racist for white dude of any background to call all people from Africa or the Middle East "savages".
That's all true, plus the word "savage" is looked at as being synonymous with bloodthirsty warmongers, so bad choice of words by Lucie.
But by it's definition, savage can also simply mean primitive or backward. I certainly would look at a culture that practices female genital mutilation, sharia law, marrying children, and the execution of gays as being backward or primitive. Wouldn't you?
Lucie...use "primitive" or "backward" from now on.
