Couple issues here. First, if it was at heavy weight they very well could have been in the same weight class 50 pounds apart which would mean there is no issue here. If it wasn't there is a bit of an issue there, but once again if it was in the far lower weights or upper weights it could have been a necessity to get her a partner for practice. In practice often times guys of very different weights work out together to mix things up, but you understand the weight differences and restraint is used.

I kind of get the feeling this may be "misremebered" a bit as there is no reason an outcome of a match between two people 50 pounds apart would determine a roster spot. They most likely would be in different weight classes (unless heavyweight as mentioned above) and therefor don't effect the same part of the lineup.
