Upon reading the article supplied, the event itself and the purpose are meaningful and appropriate, but you cannot ever assume that your irony or facetiousness can be conveyed to everyone without context. Dumb decision. While humor can be effective, it really isn't the best option when trying to promote something that you need support for from people who may not realize what the issue is.
