This order seems a bit extreme, but it is the law.
If children do not obey a parent they can be found to be delinquent or unruly and be locked up.
If children do not obey court orders they can be found to be delinquent or unruly and be locked up.
These children are refusing to obey their father and the orders of the court. The judge was right to do what he did.
