Not a/the lead organizer, but yeah, this has been a rough one around here. So, this is actually the third case in my city of voter registration laws being broken in about twelve years. First one, a young GOP member withheld voter registration forms for about 100 people until it was too late for them to be registered in time for them to vote in the upcoming election. He did it purposely, and he escaped punishment for a number of reasons I will not get into here (I know all the fun details about that one). We had a volunteer a few years back just toss a bunch of forms in a dumpster. No political affiliation there, just laziness we think. And now this.
The organization, which is non-partisan, discovered the situation, the kid confessed to them, and he was turned over to the police. It's been a fairly non-story story until recently.
