Who could've predicted we were empowering Russia and the Autocracy Ideology by electing someone who just wants to be friends with such a horrible leader?

Now, seeing a potential ally in Washington to balance the one in Moscow, the prime minister intends to cash those credits. “He understands geopolitics is changing,” Mr. Orban said: The notion that all nations need to embrace globalism and “the liberal world order” is no longer automatically accepted

I am not a fan of "globalism", or at least the "globalization" part of it, but I do think that the post WWII international order has worked remarkably well at preventing WWII scale disasters.

The consensus that created that post-war, post-Nuremberg order now seems to be breaking down as authoritarian nationalism is again springing up in Europe and the US. The representatives of these movements, like their fascist predecessors, experience liberal values--especially democracy, universal human rights, political equality, and rule of law--as an obstacle to their goals. In contrast to the pre-WWII situation, rightists can now link up quickly to share tactics and fake news (mass rapes in Europe), or simply to communicate with one another to build international ties.

The generation that suffered under WWII is largely gone, the next two generations remembered well; but there seems a break in that memory now.
