During the 2012 election, 31% of women believed there was a wide-spread effort to reduce their access to reproductive services. 45% believed there was an effort, but not that wide spread. Only 7% believed there wasn't. Defund Planned Parenthood, and those numbers increase.

There's also the reality that women are more likely to be pro-choice, and this defunding will be seen as an attempt to reduce women's access to safe abortions.

There's also the fact that even a majority of Republican women in 2014 saw the Democrats as being better at preserving their access to reproductive services. Independent women favored Democrats 60-40 with this issue. 86% of voters saw it as an important issue.

But there really was no big assault in 2012 or 2014. Defund Planned Parenthood, however, and you've given the opposition plenty of ammo.

Depends on how it gets spun. If the GOP can spin it into they are protecting them from an organization that was more concerned about profit than their well being then it could have a positive effect .
