Marvin Lewis: Bengals haven’t talked about trading AJ McCarron

How many times have these guys actually went to another team and became a star? By star...I mean franchise QB.

If you look at the teams that make Super Bowls and win them...it's guys who put up elite stats. I don't see AJ as that.

There's actually a pretty good amount of QBs who win SBs as non-elite that year. Since 2000:

2015: Peyton Manning was done physically. Had his brain and a beast of a D.
2013: Russell Wilson threw for 3,300 yards in the regular season, and 524 yards in 3 postseason games. Had Lynch and a great D. (He went 9-18, 103 yards, 0 TD in the WC round that year.)
2012: Flacco had 59.7% completion, 22 TD/10 INT
2008: Ben Rapistburger had 59.1% completion, 3,300 yards, 17 TD/15 INT
2007: Eli Manning had 56.1% completion, 3,300 yards (6.3 YPA), 23 TD/20 INT
2005: Ben Roethlisberger (12 games) had 2,300 yards, 17 TD/9 INT... and the worst SB ever by a winning QB. 9-21 (42.9%), 123 yards (5.9 YPA), 0 TD/2 INT
2002: Brad Johnson threw for only 3,000 yards. In the postseason he had a 54.1% completion and 5 TD/3 INT, yet they won three games with a total score of 106 to 37.
2001: Tom Brady threw for 2,800 yards, 18 TD/12 INT. In 3 postseason games he had 572 yards (312 of it in the WC round), 5.9 YPA, and 1 TD/1 INT.
2000: Trent Dilfer. Nuff said.

I do agree with you that McCarron isn't going to ever be a guy to carry a team as a franchise QB, though.
