Actually they are the best at the things you mentioned because of more government oversight on it than anywhere else. Records must be kept for six year and the security of those records is basically better than any other personal information you will ever give someone. Hospitals have many patients and expecting records to be kept indefinitely is unreasonable as there are costs associated with the storage of all those records.
