Canadian landlord forced to pay Muslim couple $12,000

In Ontario, it's illegal for landlords to discriminate against tenants on the basis of their religion. The landlord tried to claim they were imposing their way of life on him by asking him to give them an hour notice if he was showing the apartment and by asking him to not where he shoes in their bedroom since they pray there (which he was on video refusing to do).

The tribunal rejected the claim that this was the tenants imposing a lifestyle on him and that he refused these accommodations because of their religion.

He's got a case if he appeals, and I certainly think it's a bad ruling in terms of the damages, but it isn't as crazy as the Daily Caller is making it out to be. The dumb ass was caught on camera violating the law.
