To call the ACP a "professional" organization is a disservice to legitimate professional organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics.
The AAP is the professional organization for pediatricians on par with the American Medical Association or AMA.
The ACP is a splinter group of religious conservatives pushing a religious conservative political agenda. It is basically a club masquerading as the AAP.
