Well, sexual orientation technically isn't protected unless a judge rules that it counts as sex based discrimination. It varies place to place based on existing legal precedent. There's no national legislation protecting you from sexual orientation or gender identity based discrimination in public accommodations, so some judges have been using existing language to do so.
That said, it depends on why you are being denied membership. They can deny black cops memberships even though race is protected.
