You may be right about this. If Democrats were not defending the rights of women, Muslims, latinos, LGBTs, and African Americans, maybe people outside those groups would feel less threatened and xenophobic. First a black muslim socialist president and then we have to have a woman?  No way. 

In retrospect, the media bias in favor competence and emotional balance has become abundantly clear. That's why we don't see them fawning over the guy who mimics disabled reporters, insults POWs, and sends out vicious tweets about women's face lifts.
