There was also a 50% increase the number of voters between 2014 and 2016. Lots of people who normally were not involved in voting in these state elections who went party line. 

From the looks of it, she was also briefly voted out in 2012 too. Seems to be a bit of a pattern, though that time she lost by 1,000, so it was actually  a more significant push back when Romney ran. 

Of course, she was also running against the widow of the alleged child molester who barely beat her in the last election. 

A lot of things in her favor that suggest we can't chalk this particular one up to a blue wave.
