I thought this was a well oiled machine.

Kushner does not seem more unqualified to Trump voters than Middle East experts, so far as I can tell. Nor do they have a problem with his Russia connections.

When they factor in the Obama deep state to the above, then his difficulty getting a clearance is no mystery at all.
