These event operations security type jobs are very part time, seasonal, and (in my experience) pay minimum wage.  Go to any stadium and you'll see it staffed with old people who have pensions from other jobs/the military/disability and young people who are still in high school, or in college and just doing part-time stuff while they live with their parents.

Low hours and minimum wage are going to yield this kind of applicant pool.  You get what you pay for.  Basically, these are the types of jobs where someone who needs a job would actually find having a job like this detrimental to attaining meaningful employment.
