Once you're away, you get a lawyer, call the press, and make a big stink about it then.
If he complies with the cop then there is nothing to go to a lawyer about. That way the cop gets away with it and nothing ever changes.
If everyone just rolls over and takes it that just empowers the cops to be assholes.
