Being a spokesperson requires a high level of agreement. You have to defend whoever or whatever you are speaking on behalf of. If you don't buy-in to it then you are not going to be adequately able to do your job. This isn't a low-level paper pusher in State or Ed where you just do your job and it doesn't matter who is in office.
