'16-'17 "Hate Crime" Hysteria
#1
Sure is falling apart now in hindsight compared to all of the hysteria of the time. Saw this today...

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/israeli-american-teen-convicted-in-israel-for-bomb-threats-against-us-institutions/ar-AAzhZBj?OCID=ansmsnnews11
Quote:An Israeli-American teen was found guilty Thursday of making more than 1,000 bomb threats against Jewish and other organizations in the U.S. in recent years.

More than 1,000 bomb threats.

We heard for over a year about how there was a huge wave of antisemitism, and it turns out that over 1,000 of them (that they know of at least) was caused by 1 singular person.

With it turning out this one person was capable of creating an entire "hate crime wave" on his own, then combined with the fake hate crimes of the burning churches, graffiti'd cars, the guy who falsely claimed he was stabbed for his "white nationalist" haircut, the fake kidnapping of muslim girls who just wanted to stay out late, the military academy white board self-made hate message that got the big national speech, etc, etc....

All of which got national traction in that time of hysteria, only to be very quietly retracted/corrected.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying we've been all rainbows and kittens since the end of 2016, but I do wonder how history will look back on the mass hysteria of late '16/early '17... I just find it crazy how like 12 people lying over the span of 6-10 months could cause such a massive national ripple.

(EDIT: For anyone who might be interested: http://fakehatecrimes.org/ is an interesting/horrifying site to make you just ask yourself "WTF, people. Why?")
