How do you know who is the "Good guy" with the gun?
#2
You don't, and you can't really. This has been one of the biggest concerns of officers I have talked to through work when discussing the idea of putting teachers with guns in schools. In the event of an active shooter they'll enter the building but now they also must determine who is a good guy with a gun and who is bad which many worry may be difficult in high stress situations. As one officer described to me, you come down a hallway and you see a person firing into an area you can't see what they are shooting at, do you shoot that person before they notice you? Do you make a verbal command and risk them turning and shooting at you?
