So it's easy for someone to say.. "oh hey, the Bengals played all the bad teams last year, that's why the had a good record".

Yeah.  It also wasn't clear when they beat Atlanta that the Falcons were sorry.  Losing to the Bengals early certainly contributed to their down year.  I know I was personally sweating that game at New Orleans.  They had not lost at home in quite some time, and I think the Bengals were fresh off the stink fest Thursday Browns game.  That game was borderline must win.
